Environmental Policy

As an organisation whose employees are keenly aware of sustainability issues we endeavour to lead in environmental stewardship.

Climate Friendly, a leading carbon and energy management company is working with All-Energy Australia 2017 to offset the event emissions. All-Energy Australia have chosen to support the carbon farming project in Kinchela.

The carbon farming project in Kinchela has a number of co-benefits beyond carbon absorption. These benefits range from preserving habitat for native species, to economic and social impacts in and around Bourke. Kinchela and the surrounding region are home to a number of species listed as vulnerable in NSW. The grey-crowned babbler is one such species. The eastern subspecies of this bird (Pomatostomus temporalis temporalis) is listed as vulnerable in NSW. This bird is not a strong flyer, and finds it difficult to cross large open areas, like farms. Clearing of woodland remnants and heavy grazing both represent threats to this bird. Kinchela provides a habitat where those threats are minimised.

The following guidelines are a summary of our commitment to plan and follow through with our exhibitions and conferences in a way that displays a responsible use of natural resources and where possible minimisation of pollutants and waste.

These are the guidelines pursued by all of our team members:

Event Registration

This is done online to minimise any paper use onsite. Name badges are printed on cyclone stock which is made from recyclable materials. Barcodes are generated and sent to Smartphone users as an electronic alternative to their registration confirmation. Registrants can also preprint their name badge via their email confirmation before arriving onsite.

  • For all goods procured for the meeting, preference is given to the most environmentally-appropriate, locally-produced alternatives that are available at a reasonable price.
  • Our Sponsorship Prospectus, Exhibitor Prospectus and Exhibition Directories are all printed on FSC certified and carbon neutral stock. Chlorine-bleached paper is avoided.
  • Our Exhibition Directory is available online post-show to avoid excess ordering of hard copy which in past shows have been posted out upon request.
  • Exhibitors have access to an Online Exhibitor Manual and show forms are completed electronically.
  • General printed materials are kept to a minimum.
  • Speaker gifts are minimised, but when provided are minimally packaged and aim to minimise the use of toxic materials.
  • Conference CDs are not offered, rather materials such as abstracts, reports and proceedings are provided online.

At the Event

  • Steps are taken to minimise environmental impact of transportation to the conference and during the conference. This includes choosing a location accessible by public transportation, walking and biking.
  • All transport options are advised on our website and in the Online Exhibitor Manual.
  • Attendees and organisers are encouraged to walk, bicycle, carpool or use public transport to attend meetings and events whenever possible. Venues are evaluated in part based on their environmental policies and practices and suitability to the event.
  • Hotels are chosen that have effective and comprehensive environmentally-friendly policies and operations.
  • Sponsors and donors are actively sought who reflect positive sustainability values and practices.
